THIS IS ME

“The man with the Golden Voice,” is what some may call him. Fiercely rooted in music that you can feel, the boy who left his Birmingham home and high school at age 17 to pursue the study of Music in New Orleans at Dillard University has grown into a man who embraces Neo Soul R&B
infused with flares of Gospel music. When asked about his style, Alvarez states, “My music speaks to the souls of people in everyday situations and not only soothes them but creates a mood for living and loving right.”

Alvarez found his voice at age 13, where he took center stage when he was asked to sing at his Catholic School 8 th grade graduation in Birmingham, Alabama. Alvarez’s smooth tenor/baritone ranged voice received an overwhelming standing ovation; his life was forever changed.

This newly found vocal discovery did not lie dormant as he thought it would. Alvarez was caught by his high school music teacher! Alvarez was entertaining the class by making fun of Mrs. Smith; mimicking her voice during a choral class. Mrs. Smith punished Alvarez by assigning him with a solo lead part for 3 years to the same song with which he was mimicking
her, “Gently Speaking.”

Alvarez’s melodious vocal talent landed him a Presidential Scholarship to Dillard University. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in Music and Business under the vocal training of Dr. Valerie Francis and Dr. S. Carver Davenport.

After graduation in 2000, Alvarez used his bachelor’s degree to become a Music Teacher in Birmingham, AL for 1 year, then back to New Orleans Public Schools for 3 years.

By 2005, amidst Hurricane Katrina, Alvarez joined the US Air Force. His musical gifts opened many performance doors while serving. He became as some called him, the “National Anthem Singer,” where he performed at several Retirements, Change of Commands, and Award ceremonies; even representing as the US Air Force Anthem Singer at the New York Giants MetLife Stadium for a Soccer Game in 2007. His performances became so prevalent on multiple military bases that Alvarez created a demand by military families for recorded music.

The outcome for this demand was his studio Gospel album “Renewed,” produced and engineered while signed under Johnny Boy Records. Being young and new to the music industry, Alvarez knew nothing about promotions and marketing and ultimately walked away from his project in 2013.

Alvarez pulled away for 7 years from his attempt at a Musical Career. However, life has a way of pulling you back to what you are supposed to do. “The man with the golden voice” is back on the scene to give a different vibe with his new hit single, “Purpose”.
